The AI content doesn't sound like my brand
If your content doesn't sound like your brand, this is almost always a brand voice issue — the AI is following whatever rules it's been given, so if the tone is off, the fix is usually to add or tighten your brand voice rules rather than editing each draft by hand.
What you'll see
- Content that feels generic, too formal, too casual, or just "not us"
- The same kind of mistake showing up across multiple pieces of content
- Editing each draft individually doesn't stop the next one sounding wrong too
Why it happens
Without clear brand voice rules, the AI falls back to a generic tone instead of sounding like your brand. The more specific your rules — words to use or avoid, who you're writing for, what the content should achieve — the more consistently your content sounds like you.
How to fix it
- Go to your client's Settings and open Brand Voice.
- Review your existing rules and add ones that address what's going wrong (e.g. "never use exclamation marks", "always mention we're family-run").
- There's no limit on how many brand voice rules you can add — more specific rules generally produce content that sounds more like your brand.
- Request new content and check whether it sounds more like your brand this time.
